Welcome to the Kitchen of a Curious Cook

American Chef, James Beard once noted, "Food is our common ground, a universal experience." No matter where you go, each country, county, or community has their own unique form of cuisine.  For many, food is one of the last ways of holding onto their heritage where language and customs have been lost through the generations.  Personally, I enjoy using cooking to explore new cultures while still preserving my own.  Food is one of few ways to go thousands of miles without leaving your front door.

Equipped with my kitchen, my curiosity, and the internet, this site will follow my culinary exploration as my taste buds travel in and beyond Minnesota.  I will try to provide a brief history and context for each dish I post.  Living in the Twin Cities, I have access to many unique ingredients so I can try different cuisines.  However, because I am poor and have somewhat limited resources, I will try to keep it simple.  Hopefully some colorful pictures of the food will be added as well.  Join me on my journey to taste the universal experience.
